THE OPERATOR'S OBLIGATIONS

Obligations of operators of mobile elevated work platforms:


 Observe the provisions and instructions listed in the work permit,
in the risk assessment and in the Job Safety Analysis.
 Use work equipment correctly, without changing and/or remove
components that may affect security conditions
 Use PPE correctly
 Report to your foreman/supervisor the deficiencies of means and
devices as well as all conditions of danger you are made aware of
 Do not perform operations on your own initiative or maneuvers
that are not within your competence
 Participate in education and training programs

 “Mobile elevated work platforms” (MEWPs)


are defined as mobile machinery intended to
move persons to positions which perform
tasks from the work platform, with the
understanding that people enter and leave
the work platform through a defined access

 A pre-operational inspection is an inspection performed daily by
operators before each work shift and which involves filling out a
checklist.

 If you detect damage or unauthorized modification to the machine


compared to the baseline condition, mark and put the machine out of
service.

 Repairs may only be performed by qualified technical personnel,


according to the manufacturer's specifications.

 Make sure that the operator's manuals are reliable, readable and placed
inside the container on the platform.

 Check for oil leakage of the hydraulic system and the correct oil level. Add oil if
necessary.

 Check any loss of battery fluid and if the fluid level is correct. Add distilled water
if necessary.

 Make sure that all structural components and other critical components are
present and that all of its retainers and pins are installed and properly tightened.

 Make sure that both batteries are installed and correctly connected.

 After you have completed the check, make sure that all of the covers of the
compartments are fitted in the correct position and locked

− Humps, obstructions along the pavement or debris???

− Obstacles above the machine and high-voltage lines

− Temperature below -20° C or greater than 40°C
− Presence of an explosive atmosphere
− Poor or insufficient lighting
− Insufficient ventilation
− Dangerous environments
− Presence of unauthorized personnel

It is combined with lines when

− The lid of the battery pack must be left open


during the entire charging cycle.

− Do not use batteries weighing less than the


original batteries. The batteries act as a
counterweight and are crucial for the stabilization
of the machine.

RESCUE PROCEDURES

 Reset procedure with the tilt alarm


activated and elevated platform
− Do not use the tilt alarm as fuel level
indicator. The tilt alarm sounds on the
platform only when the machine is on
a steep slope.

− If the tilt alarm sounds when the


platform is raised use extreme
caution.

− Always check the directions in the


instruction manual of the platform
before starting operations with the
platform.

RESCUE PROCEDURES
 In case of EMERGENCY!

− If the operator on the platform is no


longer able to act:

 Operate the controls from the ground


with the switch command platform
selection /OFF/ground commands.

 Operate the switch that enables


function or if in case of lack of
electricity, operate the auxiliary
power switch.

 Proceed with the lowering of the arm


to bring the platform to the ground
and rescue the worker.
