 analog input & digital output

Complicated circuit than DAC

Process is more time consuming
Several ADC is utilize DAC as a part
More ADC’s are available with different technique

Analog to Digital
Conversion
Start Command pulse initiate the operation
Clock determine the rate
Register output bits converted to analog by DAC
DAC output compared with analog input
If V2>V1 comparator output says “high”
Then continue the operation
If V2<V1 comparator output says “low”
Then stops the conversion
End of conversion activates
Conversion Errors
For example V1=7v & V2=6.5=v
Comparator output is low
Final digital output will be 7v
But it is not an actual value
How to reduce this?
Increasing DAC input bits(reducing Resolution)
