    Ludwig Hilberseimer was a German architect and urban planner born in 1885 who studied architecture in Karlsruhe before working as an architect in Berlin and becoming an independent architect and town planner in 1919. He published numerous writings on art, architecture and urban planning and taught at the Bauhaus in Germany in 1929 before becoming the director of Chicago's city planning office in 1938. Hilberseimer viewed architecture as having two main components - forms and proportions - which could be symbolic, structural, a refinement, or decorative in nature.

     1914- Worked was as a coworker in the office of Heinz


    Lassen in Bremen . Later he led the Planning office in
    Berlin.

     1919- Worked as Independent Architect and Town


    Planner, also published numerous Theoretical writings over
    Art, Architecture and Town Construction.

     1929- Hired by Hannes Meyer to teach at the Bauhaus,


    Germany.
     1938- He became the Director of Chicago's city planning
    office.
