Objectives:

• determine the viscosity of some

liquids; and

• describe the flow of gas in

different liquids

Guide Questions
Q12: Is your prediction correct?

✘ Our prediction is correct. The

honey reached the amount of
time to reach the tray most and
the water, on the other hand, took
the least amount of time.
Q13: Which liquid is the most viscous?
How do you know?

✘ Honey is considered the most

viscous fluid among the three. It
is because of the hydrogen bonds
between the sugar and the water
if the honey that makes it more
viscous.
Q14: Which liquid is the least viscous?

✘ The water is the least viscous.

Q15: Explain viscosity in your own words.

✘ Viscosity is the state of being

sticky due to friction. It is the
thickness of a certain liquid.
Q16: Compare how these liquids flow with how you think
lava flows. Why do some types of lava travel faster than
others?

✘ The lava flows on the Earth’ s surface

with low viscosity like honey. Some
types of lava flow faster than the others
because of factors affecting its magma
temperature, chemical composition and
amount of gas it contains. If it has high
temperature, low silica content and more
amount of gases, then it is less viscous
which is easy to flow.
Q17: Compare the movement of the liquid as the
bubbles move on the surface.

✘ The movement of the liquid

goes faster as the pressure
increases.
