The document describes the procedure for plotting an isothermal transformation diagram (TTT diagram) which involves:
1) Austenitizing steel samples at a high temperature and holding for homogenization.
2) Intermediate cooling of samples in a salt bath between the A1 and Ms temperatures.
3) Quenching samples individually at time intervals and conducting metallography to determine the start and end of the transformation.
4) Plotting the transformation times on a diagram to show the TTT diagram for the steel.

Procedure to plot TTT diagram • Austenetization: A large no. of steel samples are heated to austenetizing temp. • Homogenization: The samples are held at this temp for sufficient time so as to obtain homogeneous ϒ. • Intermediate cooling: Then samples are transferred to a salt bath kept at a constant temp between A1 and Ms. • Remove these samples one by one at fixed interval of time . • Quenching : Quenching in water/Brine(10 % salt) solution. • Metallography. • Find out time of start of transformation and end of transformation.
