 INTRODUCTION

• Karnataka Milk Federation is a dairy cooperative society which was

first started in kudige in Kodagu district in 1955.
• At Dharwad was started in 1986 with 14 unions.
• It is the second largest dairy cooperative in the country.
• Total workers in DMU 256.
• The market their products through the brand Nandini.
VISION
• To ensure prosperity of the rural Milk producers who are ultimate
owners of the Federation.
• To achieve total quality in future.
• To abridge the gap between price of milk procurement and sale price.

MISSION
• developing economic.
• social and cultural prosperity in the lives of our milk producer
members.
• promoting vibrant, self-sustaining in the Karnataka state.
OBJECTIVES
• To make available quality milk and other premier dairy products to
urban consumers.
• To build & develop village level institutions as cooperative model units
to manage the dairy activities.
• To ensure provision of inputs for milk production
• To facilitate rural development by providing opportunities for self
employment at village level.
Production capacity of DMU

• It produces 2.5 lakh litres milk per day.

• It sells 90 thousand litres per day remaining is used for producing milk
products.
• It produces 600 kg of curd per day.
• 12 tons of milk powder.
• 8 tons of butter.
• 6 tons of ghee.
 FUTURE PROJECTS
• Establishment of mega dairy plant of capacity 10 LLPD for tumkur milk
union.
• Hitech mega Nandini dairy food park is proposed to be set up in north
Karnataka.
• Establishment of new Nandini film plant.
• Construct of godowns or storage tank of different capacity at various KMF
cattle feed plants.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
• To organize exclusive women dairy cooperatives and to undertake up
employment cum income generation activities.
• Confidence building among women's and generate leadership qualities.
