OUR SITE RULES WHILST IN AVA

• Drugs and Alcohol are strictly forbidden on this site


• Unauthorized photography is prohibited
• For any visit to the process and assembly areas a safety
induction MUST be conducted by the SHEQ department
• You MUST comply with PPE requirements before being
allowed to work/visit the plant
• You MUST comply with the site safety procedures

SMOKING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED

 In any Building
 In the Plant and Assembly Line
 At fueling station

SPEED LIMIT FOR DRIVERS/MOTORCYCLISTS

• 10km/hr is the maximum limit for all vehicles inside this site
• Kenyan traffic rules apply for all drivers, motorcyclists, and cyclists

TAKING CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

• Dispose of waste responsibly and in designated waste


bins and at the scrap yard.

-Disposal of cartons,
wood waste, and
metallic waste that
can not fit into the
waste bins is done at
the Scrapyard.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Minimum PPE requirements (compulsory):
Clothing:
Shirt with long sleeves and trousers or overalls for anyone working in the plant. High visibility clothing for anyone on-
site including all visitors

Footwear:
Steel cap safety boots in good condition for those who work onsite. Enclosed shoes for those visitors restricted to
walking on green walkways only

Hearing protection:
Earmuffs or earplugs must be used at the Body Shop (Jig shop, Chassis rivet, Grinding section, Metal line), Assembly
lines, Spray paint, and sections with high noise (>=85decibels)

Head protection:
Approved safety helmets must be worn always while on-site when working on any suspended load and areas marked
for use of such. Alterations to helmets are not permitted.

Hand protection
Job-specific hand gloves must be worn while working. Metal MUST NEVER be handled with bare hands.

Other task-specific Personal Protective Equipment


Skin protection-Gloves when using chemicals.
Respiratory protection-Filter mask, supplied air.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY…..
YOU WILL HEAR THE EMERGENCY ALARM
•Stay calm
Follow instructions of your AVA host or supervisor and proceed to the nearest Fire Assembly
point
•Use the exit routes and doors as directed
•Do not return to the building or plant area without authorization of respective fire marshal
OR all is given by a member of AVA senior management

EMERGENCY RESPONSE: First Aid
• There are First Aiders and First Aid boxes in every
section of the plant
• Request for assistance from your host or supervisor in
case of any First Aid accident
• Allow the First Aider to attend to you
• A dispensary is available on site in severe cases where the
Clinical Officer is needed.

Permit to Work
• A permit to work must be requested and filled before the
start of any work.

• A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Risk Assessment must


accompany the permit to work

• The permit must be issued daily before the start of work

• All people involved in the work MUST sign on the permit


and understand all hazards and risks involved in the work

• The Permit should be mounted at the job location at all


times

Hot Work Permit
• Use for all work that involves a source of ignition

• The permit MUST be filled for the following:


– Welding operations
– Cutting
– Brazing
– Soldering
– Grinding
– Drilling

Work at Height
• For any work done 1.8 meters above the ground, a
Work at Height Permit MUST be filled.

• Ensure staff ate trained on working at height before


the start of the work

• Equipment such as ladders and scaffolds have been


inspected and are in good condition

• Fall Protection such as a Safety harness and other


necessary PPE needs to be used.

Confined Space Entry Permit
• Fill this permit for entry into restricted spaces
with known hazards or unknown potential
hazardous atmospheres

• A proper JSA MUST be attached to the permit


before the work begins

• Some of the tasks needing this permit are


performed at:
• The Ovens
• The Electrical Installation
• Excavation
• Paint Store
• Paint Booth

COVID – 19 Safety

• Wear your mask

• Green walkways are designated for safe access around the site
• Employees and visitors must use green walkways, where marked at all times

• You MUST be careful when walking in hazardous


areas marked in yellow/black stripes

USE OF MOBILE PHONES
Use of mobile phones or any other cellular devices for any reason whatsoever is strictly
forbidden while
- In the Assembly lines and other Production areas
- Operating any machinery or equipment
- Driving motor vehicles at AVA.

•This use includes making/receiving calls, use of the internet, text messaging, or any
other purpose that requires the engagement of the employee either visually, mentally,
or audibly.

Our aim is to limit as many distractions as possible

SECURITY VIOLATIONS
 Willful damage to company assets
 Theft
 Industrial Sabotage
 Environment breach
 Breech of Confidentially
 Sleeping on Site
 Access to restricted areas without appropriate authorization
 Fighting or assault to other persons within AVA
 Positive test result of Alcohol or Drugs
 Use of Camera without AVA authorization

THESE VIOLATIONS WILL LEAD TO INSTANT DISMISSAL

GENERAL RULES

•Do not attempt to get close to the assembly and production line or cause
distractions to technicians working in the assembly lines or any other section of
production

•When walking near or around a forklift please keep a 5-meter clearance from
them and gain the attention of the forklift driver if you intend to get closer than
this

•Keep a minimum of 5 meters clear of any truck within AVA and gain the attention
of the driver if you intend to get closer than this and avoid being on the blind spot

SUMMARY

There is no job undertaken on this site that is so


important that you cannot take the time to do it
safely and with due care.
