POLYNOMIAL FUNCTIONS

QUARTER 2 WEEK 1

TEACHER: JACKIE JOHN L. LLANORA

POLYNOMIAL FUNCTION

Is a function of the form

Where n= is a non negative integer

, …, are real numbers called coefficients
= leading term
= leading coefficient
= constant term

P(x) = 7 + 18 – 10x + 1
7 = leading term 5 = degree of the polynomial function
7 = leading coefficient
1= constant term
Standard form = if the polynomial is written in decreasing powers of x.
POLYNOMIAL FUNCTION

Other than P(x), a polynomial function may also be denoted by f(x).

Sometimes, a polynomial function is represented by a set P of ordered pairs
(x,y).

Polynomial function can be written in different ways:

f
y
An expression is Polynomial if:
• The VARIABLE has no negative exponent
