    GROUP ONE

    EYE LID MARGIN SCRUB


    INDICATION
     To maintain lid hygiene
    REQUIREMENT
     A clean tray containing
     Two gallipot with warm water
     Gallipot containing baby soap or carbolic soap
     Two receivers –One for used swab and one for

    antibiotic ointment and cotton wool bud


     Gallipot containing cotton wool soaked in

    normal saline
     Jaconet cape and towel
     Patient folder
    PROCEDURE
     Explain procedure to patient
     Put patient in comfortable position
     Fix lights and send prepared tray to patient

    bed side
     Drape patient with jaconet cape and towel
     Wash and dry hands
     Add ¼ teaspoon of baby shampoo to the first

    warm water in the gallipot


     Pull the upper eyelid upward with the index

    finger to expose the gray line


    Procedure cont
     Dip the cotton wool bud into gallipot with
    baby shampoo
     Rub the upper eyelid margin from within

    outward
     Repeat same for lower eyelid
     Dip another cotton wool bud in the second

    warm water and clean the eyelid


     Apply the prescribed medication
    Procedure cont
     Thank patient
     Discard tray and decontaminate reusable

    ones
     Wash and dry hands
     Document your procedure
