Agency (AFD) on December16, 2019, signed a grant agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth €13.3 million (Sh38bbillion) for the Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer Project (TCCP) aiming at enhancing cancer care in Tanzania.
With the rise in the prevalence of cancer

On March 11th, 2022, Aga Khan Hospital Tanzania (AKHST) has launched The Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer Project (TCCP), a four-year €13.3 million, private- public collaborative project funded by the Agence Française de Development (AFD) and the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF). The launch was accompanied by several community events that involved a community walk to ‘Beat Cancer,’ a round table discussion, and a cancer screening event at The Aga Khan Hospital, Mwanza. Along with the TCCP launch, the hospital also inaugurated the first 3D Mammography machine that will serve to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality in the target regions including Dar es Salaam and Mwanza.
TCCP has procured and installed TZS 1bn worth of equipment at
Ocean Road Cancer Institute and Bugando Medical Centre- including the inaugurated mammography machine. On November 13th 2021, at the summit for The National commemoration for Non communicable diseases (NCD's) week in Arusha, the Minister for Health (by then), Hon. Dr. Doroth Gwajima as the guest of honor, commended TCCP and AKHS,T for their continuous impact in the health sector. As one of the leading providers of health care services in the region, we are honoured to serve at our best. This happened at Sheikh Amri Abeid grounds in Arusha.
