Background of the
author
Marcelino Agana Jr. was a playwright in 1958
who wrote one of the more popular Filipino
comedies that have been produced many times
through the years. New Yorker in Tondo is one
of his most well-known comedy plays. Its
humor and irony are shown to present a
realistic picture of Filipino life.
Vocabulary
Gaping – to stare with open mouth, as in wonder.
Suspenders – adjustable straps or bands worn over the shoulders to
support the trousers or skirt.
Belligerently - to speak with anger.
Jilt -to reject or cast off.
Choking- husky and strained, especially because of emotion

Terrific- extraordinarily great or intense.
Miscegenation- marriage between people of different races.

Manger - a box or a barn from which animals eat.
Hussy - a mischievous, impudent, or ill-behaved girl
Infuriated - angry or enraged
Haughty - disdainfully proud; snobbish; scornfully arrogant.
Misty - being obscure (hard to perceive )
