Digital Graphic
 Drawings or images, created with the use of
computer graphic software, are called digital
graphics.
Basic elements of digital graphics
 Pixel
 A pixel is a tiny illuminated dot having a colour which is
displayed on a computer screen.
 The digital graphics are created with thousands of such pixels.
Colors in an image and the
number of bits
 The number of bits per pixel determines the
colours used in an image.
Graphic Resolution
 The physical dimension of an image is displayed
as the image resolution.
 Ex:

175 pix

250 pix
 This image is 250 pixel wide and 175 pixels high.
The image resolution is (250 x 175 ) pixels.
DPI –Dots Per Inch
 Number of dots (pixels) per inch used (horizontal
or vertical ) of an image is called dpi.
 Colours

 Two widely used colour modes that used in computer graphics

are,

1. RGB Colour mode.

2. CMYK Colour mode.
RGB Colour Mode
 RGB is a 24 bits colour mode. It can produce 16.7 millions of
colors.
 Widely used in digital productions. (Web, Televisions)

CMYK Colour Mode
C – Cyan , M-Magenta , Y – Yellow , K- Black
 Widely used in printing industry.
Graghic size and compression
 The size of a graphic is determined by the number
of pixels, the number of lines and the colour
combination.
 A graphic with a large number of pixels , colours
and a high resolution has a large file size.
 There may be difficulties in storing and
transmission of such a graphic.
 Graphic compression is used to compress file size.
Graphic Compression
 There are two types of compression.
1. Lossy compression
2. Lossless compression
 Examples for lossy file types are JPEG,
TIFF,BMP.
 Examples for lossless file types are
GIF,PNG,RAW.

1. Raster Graphics
2. Vector Graphics
Image manipulation with GIMP
 GNU Image Manipulation Program
 It is a Freeware.
 GIMP is a raster graphic editer.
 Originally designed for UNIX. Now it supports
for Windows and Linux as well.

 layers
 The use of Layers is important for both simple and
complex graphic creations.
 It is easy to manipulate objects on a graphic by using
different layers.
 Objects can be edited in one layer without effecting in to
the objects in another layer.

file type.)
 jpeg/jpg – Joint Photographic Experts Group
 tga- TARGA
 gif- Grafics Interchange Format
 bmp- Bit Map
 tiff- Tagged Image File Format

සජීවීකරණයක් යනු
 කිසියම් වස්තුවක් හෝ වස්තු කිහිපයක් චලනය
වන බව පෙන්වීම සඳහා නිර්මාණය කරනු ලබන
දෘෂ්ටි මායාවක්, සජීවීකරණයක් වේ.
සජීවීකරණ මූලිකාංග
රාමු වර්ග
 මූලික රාමුව (key frame) - සජීවීකරණය සඳහා යොදාගනු ලබන
රාමු පෙළක් තුල වූ විශේෂිත එක් නිශ්චල රූපයකි (රාමුවකි).
සම්පූර්ණ චලනයක් තුල වැදගත් ස්ථාන කිහිපයක මූලික රාමු
තිබිය හැක.
 ට්වීන් රාමු (tween frames). - මූලික රාමු දෙකක් අතර සුමට
චලනයක් නිර්මාණය කරනු ලබන රාමු ට්වීන් රාමු වේ. මූලික
රාමු පරිගණක ක්‍රමලේඛන ශිල්පියා විසින් සකසන අතර ට්වීන්
රාමු පරිගණක ක්‍රමලේඛය විසින් සකසයි.
 රාමු (frames)- සජීවීකරණය තුල අන්තර්ගතයේ පෙන්වන කාල
සීමාව වැඩිකරගැනීම සඳහා යොදාගනු ලැබේ.
 ව්‍යුක්ත මූලික රාමු (Blank Key Frame) - යම් අන්තර්ගතයක්
සැපයීම සඳහා හිස් මූලික රාමුවක් සපයයි. එම ව්‍යුක්ත මූලික
රාමුව තුල කිසියම් අන්තර්ගතයක් සැපයූ වහාම එය තවදුරටත්
ව්‍යුක්ත මූලික රාමුවක් නොවේ.
