In adding and subtracting radicals, they must
have the same index and same radicand called
similar radicals.
 
Combining Radicals
Steps:
1. Radicals must be in its simplest form.
2. Combine radicals which are similar (same index
and same radicand).
3. Indicate as addition/subtraction those radicals
which are not similar.
