2. Metaphor
- a figure of speeh that makes an implicit, implied, or
hidden comparison between two things that are unrelated
but shared common characteristics
Example: Joe is a pig.
3. Analogy
- it is something that shows how two things are
alike, but ith the ultimate goal of making a point
about this comparison.
Example: Joe’s sense of personal hygiene is
on the same level as a pig that rolls around a dirt
and mud all day
4. Allegory
- a figure of speech in which abstract ideas and
principles are described in terms of characters, figures,
and events.
Example: The mud of Joe’s life.
5. Allusion
- a figure of speech whereby the author refers to a
subject matter such as place, event, or literary work by
way of a passing reference.
Example: We have an Einstein in our classroom!
