Environmental Impact

Assessment
Environmental Impact
Assesment
is a process of evaluating the likely environment impact of
proposed project or development, taking into account inter-
related socio-economic,cultural and human-health
impact,both beneficial and adverse.
• it aim to predict environmental impact at an early
stage in project, planning and design find ways and
means to reduce adverse impact shape project to
suit the local environment and present the
predictions and options to decision-makers.
• EIA both environmental and economic benefits can
be achieved, such as reduced cost and time of
project implementation and design,avoid
treatment/clean up cost and impacts of law and
regulations.
Stage Fundamental Components
of an EIA
Screening
To determine which project or development require
full or partial impact assessment study.
Scoping
To identfy which potential impact are relevant to
access identfy alternative solution that avoid mitigate
or composate adverse impacts on biodiversity.
Assesent and evaluatio of impact and development
of alternatives
To predict and identify likely environment impact of
a proposed project or development including the
detailed elaboration of alternatives.
Reporting the environment impact statement
including an environmental management plan and a
non technical summary for the general audience.
Review of the Environment Impact statement
Based on the terms of reference(scoping) and public(including
authority) participation.
Desicion-making
on whetherbto approve the project or not,and under what
conditions
Monitoring,compliance,enforcement and environment auditing
monitor whether the predicted impacts and proposal
mitigation measures occurs as defined in the EMP.Verify the
complience of proponent with EMP to ensure that unpredicted
impact or failed mitigation.

Advantage of
EIA
.More environment sustanable
design.
.Better compliance with statutory
standard
.Saving in capital and operating
costs.
.Reduced time and costs for
obtaining clearances
.Avoid later plant adaption.
.Reduced health cost
.Increase project acceptance
Environment
Problem
.Ozone deplatio,greenhouse
effect,and global warming
.Desertification
.Deforestation
.loss of Biodiversity
.Disposal of wastes
