It covered a vast area that included parts of EUROPE, THE NEAR
EAST AND THE ENTIRE MEDITERRANEAN COAST
INCLUDING EGYPT.

Slovenia, Croati, Bosnia Herzagovina, Montenegro, Morocco,
and portions of others.
This empire was built and extended by the then ruler
Constantine.
After his death, the empire was divided into Eastern and
Western empire.
The eastern empire is known as the “Byzantine empire”
Ancient World.
By 117 CE, the Roman Empire was at its
peak covering more than 5 million square
kilometers of land. Included in the Roman
Empire was most of Europe , the Near East
and the entire Mediterranean coast
including Egypt.
THE CAPITAL - CONSTANTINOPLE
The capital of this empire was Constantinople which
was at a central location – the city of Byzantium.
This city is the present day Istanbul which is in
Turkey.
The city was well connected to the Marmara and the
Black sea. Part of this city was in Europe and Asia
which gave it access to the ships that passed through
the Silk route to China.
The movement of goods and people led to increased
trade and more job opportunities.
