1. Conceptual Design DS

Energy
Measures
North or south orientation is more energy efficient

More energy saving at 20% WWR

More the insulation thickness, more is energy saving

low e-coated glass with u-value of 2.0 W/m2 & 0.45
SHGC is most energy efficient
annual average shading factor of 0.5 is most energy
efficient

Water
Site Plan (Zoning with Block Shape & Orientation)
Measures
use of water efficient toilet fixtures such as low-flow
faucets, water efficient urinals saves/reduces the final
water use
methods like rainwater harvesting & recycling black
water, reduces final water use in a building

Material Measures
concrete filler slab is more efficient as it saves more
embodied energy PAVALIO

7. Business Case

What are the Key Priorities for your client?

Lower construction cost, low maintenance, only green building in nearby area; hence structurally
appealing

How will you convince your

client?

The client would be first briefed about the idea and visual concept of the building.
Features such as solar panels , double glazed windows and other features would elaborated and their
advantages and disadvantages would be explained to the client.
For example - Initial costing of solar is more but the maintenance ahead is very minimal.

6. Observations
energy saving increases with decrease in floor depth in case of daylight photoelectric sensors

use of energy saving light bulbs in internal spaces saves more energy

energy saving is excellent if whole roof area is used for PV

use of water efficient toilet fixtures such as low-flow faucets, water efficient urinals saves/reduces the final water use

methods like rainwater harvesting & recycling black water, reduces final water use in a building

concrete filler slab is more efficient as it saves more embodied energy

compressed stabilized earth blocks are most efficient
