2005

 The Disaster Management Act of 2005
(DMA 2005) is an act passed by the
government of India for the ‘efficient
management of disasters and other
matters connected to it.

About this Act


 The Disaster Management Act, 2005 was
made effective from December 23, 2005, to
provide for the effective management of
disasters and for matters connected
therewith or incidental thereto.

 The DMA empowers the Central
Government to create a National Executive
Committee (NEC) to assist the National
Disaster Management Authority.

State Disaster chairperson and 8 members appointed by
the Chief Minister.

Management Authority (DDMA) will be the Collector
District Magistrate or Deputy Commissioner of the

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)

made by Parliament by law in this behalf, provide.
 Prohibition against discrimination.—While providing
compensation and relief to the victims of disaster, there shall be
