ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING

• This lesson will allow learners to explore into the key


concept, the global context, the statement of inquiry
and the other MYP components that drives a unit.
• It will also allow learners to find the meaning of the
key words that will be used throughout the unit.
LESSON OBJECTIVES

• By the end of the lesson the student should be able to


• relate the key concepts, the global context and the
statement of inquiry to the unit title.
• Explain the three keywords that will drive the unit.
KEY COMPONENTS OF THE UNIT
• The unit title is ‘The friendship between industry and machine.’
• Students should locate the unit and outline the following in their note books
• The Key concept
• Related concepts
• The global context
• The statement of inquiry
• Outline two relationship that exist between the unit title and the statement of
inquiry.
INQUIRY QUESTIONS

• Based on the various components of the unit


namely SOI, key concept and the global
context, formulate three inquiry questions that
can help you research into the units.
KEYWORDS OF THE UNIT.

Research the meaning of the following words and write them


in your own words in your note books
• Industrialisation
• Technology
• Technological development
CLASS ACTIVITIES

• Formulate three inquiry questions based on the


SOI and the unit title and write it in your note
books and post it in the google classroom
• Research the keywords and write their meaning
in your own words. Post your response in the
google classroom and keep a copy in your note
books.
