Introduction:-
 A computer is an electronic machine, devised for performing
calculations and controlling operations that can be expressed
either in logical or numerical terms.

CHARACTERISTICS:-
• Speed
• Accuracy
• Diligence
• Reliability
• Storage capability
• Versatility
• Resource sharing
Classification
of
Computer
# MICRO COMPUTERS:-
 A micro computer is a small, low cost digital computer, which usually
consists of a microprocessor, a storage unit, an input channel, and an
output channel, all of which may be on one chip inserted into one or several
PC boards.
 The addition of a power supply and connecting cables, appropriate
peripherals, an operating system and other software programs can provide
a complete micro computer system.
 A micro computer includes desktop, laptop, and hand-held models such as
PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants).
1) PC (Personal Computer):-
 Desktop computer is also known as Personal
Computer (PC).
 These micro computers typically consist of a
system unit, a display, monitor, a keyboard, internal
hard disk storage and other peripheral devices.
2) Laptop :-
 A laptop is a portable computer, that is, a user can carry it around. Since
the laptop computer resembles a notebook, it is also known as “notebook”.
 The biggest advantage of this computer is that one can use this computer
anywhere and at anytime, especially when one is traveling.
 These computers are expensive
as compared to desktop computers.
3) Hand-held computers:-
 A hand-held, also called Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), is a computer that can
conveniently be stored in a pocket and used while the user is holding it.
 PDAs are essentially small portable computers and are slightly bigger than
the common calculators.
 A PDA user generally uses a pen or electronic stylus, instead of a keyboard for
input.
 Hand-held computers usually have no disk drive; rather they use small cards to
store programs and data.
 However, they can be connected to a
printer or a disk drive to generate
output or store data.
# Mini Computers:-
 The minicomputer is a small digital computer whose process and storage
capacity is lesser than that of a mainframe, but more than that of micro
computer.
 Its speed of processing data is in between that of a mainframe and a micro
computer.
 It is capable of supporting from 4 to about 200 simultaneous users.
 Mini computers are usually multi-user systems, so these are used in
interactive applications in industries, research organizations, colleges and
universities.
# Mainframe Computer:-
 A mainframe is an ultra-high performance computer made for
high volume, processor-intensive computing.
 It is able to process and store more data than a mini computer
and far more than a micro computer.
 It is designed to perform at a faster rate than a micro computer
 Mainframes can usually execute many programs simultaneously
at a high speed, whereas super computers are designed for
single process.
# Super Computers:
 A super computer has the highest processing speed at a given time for
solving scientific and engineering problems.
 Essentially, it contains a number of CPUs that operate in parallel to make it
faster.
 Its processing speed lies in the range of 400-10,000 MFLOPS (Millions of
Floating Point Operation per Second).
 It is the fastest, costliest and the most powerful computer available today.
Android
vs
Windows
# Android:-
 Android is a mobile operating system which is provided by Google.
 It is based on the modified version of the Linux kernel and other open
source software.
 It is specifically designed for touchscreen mobile devices like
smartphones and tablets.
 It was developed using C, Java, C++ and other languages.
Advantages of Android:-
1. It is customizable and can transform anything.
2. Any new app can be published without being reviewed.
3. It offers an open platform to developers.
4. It is cost-effective.
5. It has easy access to the Android application market.

Disadvantages of Android:-
6. Applications contain viruses.
7. It has a high gadget fragmentation.
8. Fake and low-security applications can be installed, which
gather your information without your knowledge.
9. It has a complex layout, which makes it difficult to perform the
coding.
# Windows:-
 Windows is a group of various proprietary graphical operating
systems which is provided by Microsoft Incorporation.
 It is also known as Microsoft Windows.
 It is the most used operating system in personal computers.
 The most recent version of Windows for personal computers is
Windows 10.
Advantages of Windows:-
1. Windows comes with a set of advantages that you should know to better
understand Android vs Windows comparison.
2. Windows OS is easily supported on almost all hardware.
3. The user interface is convenient to access and use.
4. It is largely opted by gamers and software developers globally.
5. It comes with a plug-and-play feature to automatically detect hardware.
6. The OS has been developed for both touch screen gadgets and desktops.

Disadvantages of Windows:-
7. Windows OS has a large number of attacks by hackers.
8. It is costly as most of the software is paid for.
9. You need to reboot your system if it slows down.
10.Technical support is not good for most users.
11.Your device needs to have a high RAM capacity if installing Windows OS.
