Lesson 2

Adverbs
An adverb functions to describe
verbs, adjectives, and other
adverbs.
Adverbs answers the questions
“how much”, “when”, “where”, in
what manner or to “what
frequency”.
Types of Adverbs
1.Adverbs of Manner
Tells us how something is happen or done
They are usually place after the object or the main
verb.

Example:
1. The pianist performed brilliantly.
2. The new mayor spoke confidently about the future
of the city.
3. Lea had been sung loudly.
Adverbs of Frequency

Use to say how often things is done or happen.

1. Peter is always getting into trouble.


2. Usually, Peter arrives early for work.
Adverbs of Time

Tells us when does something happen

1. Yesterday, I forgot my lab notebook.


2. Jason finished the test early.
3. I saw that movie last year.
Adverb of Place
Tells us where it happens
Usually placed after the main verb or after
the clause they modify.

1. The boy was asked to keep the


cups here.
2. They built a house nearby.
3. She took the child outside.
Adverb of Degree
Tells us the degree or intensity of an
adjective, verb or another adverb.

1.  She ran very quickly.


2. He barely finished the test.
3. My sister is a little sad that school is over.

Poems About Life
 Write a 4-stanza poem with 4 lines each
about your perspective on living and how
life should be lived.

 Use a minimum of eight (8) adverbs in your


poem.
