Exoplanet:

TrES-2b
By Shan Goran and Dia Diar 10B
TrES-2b
TrES-2b has been identified in 2011 as the
darkest known exoplanet, reflecting less than
1% of any light that hits it. TrES-2b is an
extrasolar planet orbiting the star GSC 03549-
02811 located 750 light years away from the
Solar System and the galaxy it is in (not found).
TrES-2b is located very close to its star, and
belongs to the class of planets known as hot
Jupiters. Its radius is 90,938 km,
mass=2.82951e+27 and the volume =(not
found).
TrES-2b
TrES-2b's atmosphere is made up of things
like vaporized sodium, potassium, and
titanium oxide–things that actually
compound the problem by absorbing heat.
Its orbital radius is 0.03563
AU(194,000km). Its orbital period 2.5 days
and 59 hours. Orbital speed (not found) in km/h and (not
found) in m/sec.
Does TrES-2b
have a satellite
or not?
It does not have a satellite.
It is located 750 light years away
from the Solar System. A 2008
study concluded that the TrES-2
system is a binary star system.
This has a significant effect on
the values for the stellar and the
planetary parameters
COMPARNG RADIUS, MASS AND
VOLUME OF TrES-2b WITH THE
EARTH
Earth’s radius TrES-2b radius
and mass and mass
Earth’s radius is 6.37 × Its radius is 90,938 km,
106 m and mass is 5.96 × mass=2.82951e+27kg
1024 kg.
Earth’s volume TrES-2b
Earth’s volume is about 260 billion cubic
miles (1 trillion cubic kilometers)

Comparing orbital radius, orbital period and
orbital speed of the TrES-2b with the Earth
Earth’s orbital radius,
TrES-2b’s orbital
orbital period, and
radius, orbital period,
orbital speed
and orbital speed
Orbital radius: 1.0
AU(6371 km) Orbital radius: 0.03563
Orbital period: 365.256 AU(194,000km)
days (1 sidereal year) and Orbital period: 2.5 days
8,770 hours. and 59 hours
Orbital speed: 107,000 Orbital Speed: (not
km/h and 29,800 m/sec found) in km/h and (not
(67,000 mph) found) in m/sec.
Is TrES-2b in a
habitable zone or not?
Although TrES-2b is found to be a fairly
static system, the real result is the quality of
the data which exhibits unprecedented
quality – 230 parts per million (ppm) per
minute – which is enough to detect a 6.5
hour transit typical for a habitable-zone
planet with a noise level of 11.6ppm.
Is TrES-2b
suitable for life?
It is not really suitable for life, it's
so near to its star that the
temperature of its surface
remains 1100°C. That
temperature is enough to melt
gold. Scientists think so because
gaseous sodium can absorb light
due to which TrES- 2b seems to
be dark.
It's Jupiter's like planet.
Why we search life in
other planets?
To understand the nature and
distribution of life in the universe .
The underlying scientific goal in
searching for life beyond the solar
system is the same as the goal of the
study of astrophysical influences on
the evolution of life on the planet
Earth. Better understanding of early
Earth life, could inform our attempts
to detect life beyond our planet. And
truly knowing distant exoplanets
requires knowledge of the stars they
orbit; greater understanding of our
Sun will help us to know other stars.
