Operators are responsible to recognize hazards and
avoid potential accidents.
Powered industrial trucks (Forklift Trucks) are highly
useful and very dangerous if used unsafely.
Most common accidents:
– Tipping Over
– Striking a Co-Worker
– Struck by a Falling Load
– Driving off a Dock

As an instructor you must ensure any students


you train understand how to recognize and avoid
common hazards found when operating lift
trucks.
Students must understand the Lift Truck’s
capabilities. To get work done and the potential
for injury and death.
Training Materials
– Training Location
– Seats arranged for
maximum efficiency.
– Video, VCR, TV, etc.
– Handouts, quizzes,
pencils.
– Sign-in Sheet to
document training.
Preparation

Success depends on preparation and planning


Give yourself several days to prepare.
Locate and schedule the training site ASAP.
Notify trainees as far in advance as possible.
Obtain necessary equipment and supplies.
Make sure you know how to operate all the equipment,
both audio-visual and powered trucks.
Review all training materials.
Preview video tapes.
