Merck Young Scientist Award Purpose
• Merck Young Scientist Award is a biennial program that began with its
first season in 2019. The second season returned in 2021. The award
recognizes the innovative contributions of young Indian scientists
towards research.
• The award is given to an Indian researcher or scientist with less than
12 years of research experience (post-PhD) and affiliated with a
research institute.
• Season 1 of MYSA honoured six curious minds from the fields of
Biological Sciences and Chemical Sciences.

Award Winners of 2021
• The Merck Young Scientist Award - Season 2 recognized young
researchers who made a positive impact on the lives of millions of
people. Season 2 drew over 2000 registrations and more than 500
applications from nearly 1000 institutes across India. Season 2
honored seven winners, three in the Biological and Chemical sciences
category and one in COVID-19 research.
