SUMMARY

Jamie’s Market are the supermarket in California, USA. They facing difficulties in hiring new temporary workers as their business

becomes busier than before resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jessica Diaz, who had been working as a department supervisor at the second Jamie’s Market location, was promoted to assistance

manager at its flagship location. Diaz has identified a few findings, the store didn’t hire enough qualified workers to meet

anticipated demand, the job listing was not advertised efficiently and no socialization among workers (permanent and temporary

workers).

Diaz need to identify what is the problem in hiring process, what changes need to be made, what training they needed to be

successful and how to ensure these workers get along well with the existing workforce.

 Temporary workers, or casual staff are hired for a specific period of time
(predetermined period)

 E.g: freelancers, interim staff, seasonal workers or contract workers

 Commonly hired during busy time such as festive season, holidays, increased in
demand and seasonal occasion

 Cheaper cost than permanent workers
