 My name is Samuel Martínez González, I am the tv news reporter and we’re

going to talk about the home fires.

 It is an alarming case which has been increasing in this day an age.

 What are home fires?

 Home fires are often caused by kitchen accidents, cigarettes, and the unsafe
use of stoves or unit heaters.
 Basic tips for preventing fires in the home:

 The following tips will be very useful to avoid sources of fire at home. As basic as they may seem, it is
worth remembering them.
 Keep gas stoves and heaters at least one meter away from objects that can burn, such as upholstery, curtains,
hanging clothes, etc.
 Never leave candles burning unattended or while sleeping.
 Keep matches and lighters out of the reach of children.
 If there is a gas stove, close the stopcock when you finish cooking and whenever you leave the house.
 Do not overload sockets with multiple power strips, especially with large consumption devices.
 Check the electrical installation periodically and fix any damage in plugs and cables as soon as it is detected.
 Do not use any electrical appliance in poor condition.
 Do not repair or manipulate electrical installations or electrical devices if you know
what you are doing. Even to change a light bulb, basic safety measures must be taken
into account.
 No smoking in bed. Also, do not smoke on the couch or on the sofa if you are sleepy.
 Make sure that the butts are well extinguished and always throw them first in an
ashtray to prevent a spark from igniting any flammable element.
