Chemical Weathering

Material Used

• Vinegar
• A Large Glass
• Rock
• Steel Wool
• A Small Bowl

Procedure

1) Put the Rock in the Large Glass


2) Fill the Glass ¾ full with vinegar
3) Watch the rock for a few minutes.
4) Put Steel Wool in the Bowl
5) Pour Vinegar Inside
6) Leave two glasses for a day
7) Now Observe
Hypothesis

• If I put a rock and a steel wool in the vinegar,


then they will melt.
Observation

• Rock had tiny bubbles coming up, and Steel


Wool did not show anything.

Result

• Rock was same as before.


• Vinegar that had steel wool, changed its
color to purple, and many bubbles came
up.
• Kind of Failed
Conclusion

• Vinegar reacted to the steel wool, but to


the rock it didn’t react.
• Through this experiment, I learned that
rock is a hard material.
• Even though vinegar has a lot of
ingredients, it is a little hard to do
something to the rock.
