Background of the Study

•A number of factors contribute to the risk of collision


including: vehicle design, speed of operation, road
design, road environment, driver skill and/or
impairment and driver behavior.
• In some countries, data collected about road accident
was examined, excessive speed was the most common
contributory factor in fatal accidents, playing a part in
28%, careless, thoughtless or reckless behavior was
next being a contributory factor in 21% of all fatal
accidents examined.
• Tapaz is one of the municipalities of the second
district of Capiz that have their respective Poblacion
located along the highways. The bulk of the different
kinds of motor vehicles plying along their highways
and Poblacion may have been one of the causes of
reported traffic accidents that resulted to the death of
the motorists.


• This are some of the reasons that the researchers
would like to conduct this study in order to
determine what are the real causes of traffic
accidents at the Municipalities of Tapaz, Capiz.

Scope and Limitations
• Descriptive research

• Survey questionnaires compose of three (3) parts.

• Part I deals on the personal information about the respondents


such as age, gender, rank, civil status, estimated monthly income,
educational attainment, and number of years in service.

• Part II will gather information on the causes of traffic accident at


Tapaz, Capiz and their frequency of occurrence.

• Part III will deals on the degree of seriousness of the causes of


traffic accidents at Tapaz, Capiz.

• Thirty-five (35) police personnel


of Tapaz Police Station
Research Instrument
• The researchers will prepare a set of questionnaire
composed of three (3) parts to be use in the study.

• Part I of the questionnaire will be use in collecting


pertinent information about the respondents.
• Part II pertains to the causes of traffic accident at Tapaz,
Capiz and their frequency of occurrence, and

• Part III will deal in the degree of seriousness of the


causes of traffic accidents in Tapaz, Capiz.
Data Gathering Procedure
• Before the questionnaire will be administered to the
respondents, the researchers will secure a written
permission from the Campus Administrator to conduct
a survey.

• After the approval has been secure, the researcher


will personally distribute the survey questionnaire to
the Chiefs of Police of Tapaz Police Station.
• The researcher will personally administer the
survey and explain the objectives of the study to the
respondents. The accomplish questionnaire will be
immediately retrieve after the respondents
accomplish them.
Data Analysis Procedure

•The data gathered in this study will be organized


and tabulated for statistical treatment in order to
answer the specific problems of the study.

Statistical Tools
•The data gathered in this study was obtain and tabulated for the
statistical treatment in order to answer the specific problems of the
study.
•The formula for the mean will be adapted from Downie and
Heath, (1984)
