“My Best Friend’”
I have a best friend. Her name is
Jaqueline. She helped me when I have
difficulties in answering my modules.
She is a friend to everyone. Last
Saturday, we jogged together in the E-
park with our dog Max and Chuchay.
We had a great time together. Last
month, I cooked a lot of foods to
celebrate our friendship together with
our friend Nichole. After eating, we
washed the dishes together and
cleaned the house. Life is happier when
you have a best friend.

 Regular Verbs
a verb that follows a
predictable pattern when
switching between tenses
Regular Verbs

In English, you can usually


form the past tense of a regular
verb simply by adding the suffix
“-ed” or “-d” to the end of the
verb.
Rules in writing past form of a verb:

Rule Number 1: To form the past tense of a


verb, add -ed to the end of the root form of
the verb.
Examples:
help–helped
open-opened
want–wanted
Rules in writing past form of a verb:

Rule Number 2: If the verb ends in -e, just


add a -d to the end of the root form.

Examples:
dance–danced
receive-received
believe–believed
Rules in writing past form of a verb:

Rule Number 3: If a verb ends in vowel + -


y, add –ed.

Examples:
play–played
stay-stayed
enjoy–enjoyed
Note: There are some exceptions to
Rule #3:
pay → paid
lay → laid
Rules in writing past form of a verb:

Rule Number 4: If a verb ends in consonant


+ -y, change -y to -i and add -ed.

Examples: cry–cried
fry-fried
try–tried
Rules in writing past form of a verb:
Rule Number 5: If a verb ends in a
consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) pattern,
double the final consonant and add -ed.

Examples: beg-begged
drop-dropped
hug-hugged
Tell the past tense form for each of the verbs:

Write them on the board. Then write the correct spelling on the right side of
each word. Use it in a sentence.
