• The term roof system refers to the air barrier or vapor retarder (if
present), roof insulation (if present), and the roof membrane, flashing, and
accessories. Low-slope Roof Coverings (slope less than or equal to 3:12): Built-

Metal roofing system
TYPES OF ROOFING SYSTEM

Thatch Roofs
Is the craft of building a roof with dry
vegetation such as straw, water reed,
sedge, rushes, heather, or palm branches,
layering the vegetation so as to shed water
away from the inner roof.
TYPES OF ROOFING SYSTEM
• SLATE OR STONE ROOFS
• stone is not the greatest material for
roofs, as it is heavy.  Slate is a
naturally occurring type of stone that
splits into thin layers if you hit it with
a chisel in just the right way.  This
produces thin, waterproof tiles that
can be overlapped to form a roof.
TYPES OF ROOFING SYSTEM
• Clay Tile Roofs
clay tiles are a traditional kind of roofing material.
Clay is a material that is both widely available and
easy to shape into forms that have lips an
channels to direct the flow of water. It is still widely
used in many parts of the world, and has an
attractive appearance.
TYPES OF ROOFING SYSTEM
• Wood Shingle Roofs
wooden shingles are light and easily
replaceable, and were used extensively in
many parts of the world.
TYPES OF ROOFING SYSTEM
• Metal Roofing Systems
metal roofing systems are hugely
popular in today's times. They are
used in almost every industrial
and airport terminal building and
can also be used in residential
and educational buildings.
CHARACTERISTICS OF ROOF SYSTEM
• Service Life – One of the most important things to think about when planning
your new roof is how long that roof should last.
• Durability – As opposed to service life which measures how long your roof will
last, durability deals with how well a roof can withstand weather extremes in
your area.
• Styling – Your roof is both a functional and decorative piece, and it should
complement the overall aesthetic of your home.
• Energy Efficiency – With modern advances in insulation technology, roofing
now plays an important role in energy conservation and lowering utility bills.
Thank you 
