difficulties in their
studies

2
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to discover the
Impact of Excessive Workload on
Senior High School students enrolled in
Morong National High School - Senior
High for the School Year 2021-2022.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
Specifically, these are the following questions that will be
answered by the respondents:
1. What do you feel while answering your learning
activities?
2. How do you manage your time in answering the
learning activities?
3. What changes happened to you because of the
workload?
4. What strategy do you do to answer all your activities?
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
◇ The main objective is to discover the
impact of excessive workload on the

health of Senior High School students
enrolled in Morong National High
School - Senior High for the School

REVIEW OF RELATED
LITERATURE
Academic workload is considered one of the main stressors for
students, as it has been shown to account for increased levels of
stress in the students (Murff, 2005). Research has found various
aspects of physical health being affected by actual stress or
perceived stress. Connections between stress and decreased
immune system function have been shown in previous researches.
This is an obvious impairment to college students as both physical
and mental performance decrease as immune system function is
impaired (Largo-Wright, Peterson, Chen 2005)

ASSUMPTIOMS OF THE STUDY

Upon gathering the data needed it is evident that
the respondents had a poor time management in
answering all their tasks. They feel stress and burn
out is present. Procrastination gave students
difficulties prior to applying their coping
mechanisms and strategies in answering activities.
Lastly, sleep deprivation ruined their ability to
answer from time to time.

RESEARCH DESIGN
◇ The qualitative study used Phenomenological study as it
is defined as a research method that discovers to find
structure of an experience by explaining how complex
meanings are build out of simple unit inner experience that
is being studied. The researcher chose phenomenological
study because the topic is currently happening and
continuously affecting the health of STEM 11 students. The
researcher also wanted to discover the experience and the
health of the students affected by the phenomena or the
excessive workloads.

10
RESEARCH METHODS
The researchers used a purposive
sampling method to determine the
fifteen (15) needed samples for data
collection. They then used informal
interviews to gather the data needed
to formulate assumptions and then
analyzed the data.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
The researchers served as the instrument of the
study through conducting informal interviews, in
relation to the specific questions of the research, on
their fellow schoolmates. The said interviews is
conducted in the school premises of Morong National
High School – Senior High for the STEM–11B students
while interviews of STEM-11A students will be
conducted through a social media platform.
