internship period with the Devise apps. The report is also a requirement for the partial fulfillment
of Dhole Patil College of Engineering, Pune.
In this report I will share my experiences for the period of 10th Jan2020 to 12th Feb 2020. The
report focuses primarily on the assignments Marketing, vendor Management, and Sales
Negotiation that I as an intern did encounter when handling various tasks assigned to me by the
Senior Manager. It is hoped that this report would serve as cardinal vehicle to the improvement
of the internship program.
The successful completion of this internship indicates that the future of marketing is in the hands
of marketing.
Executive Summary

• India has set an ambitious renewable energy target

of 175 GW by 2022, including 100GW of solar power.
• Of that, the government aims for 60 GW to be utility-
scale solar, and the rest to be rooftop solar.
• The country has only achieved 2 GW today ,which
means that 6 GW would need to be installed every
year to reach the 40 GW target by 2022.
• Filling this gap between the current installment and
the 40 GW goal will require an estimated USD 39
billion (INR 3 trillion).
Objective

• HIGH UPFRONT COST OF INSTALLATION

• CONSUMERS’ PERCEPTION OF PERFORMANCE RISK
• LIMITED ACCESS TO DEBT FINANCE
• LACK OF CONSUMER AWARENESS OF SOLAR POWER AS AN ENERGY OPTION
• DIFFICULTY IN ACQUIRING GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES FOR SOLAR POWER
• THE ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITY OF OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
In order to expand the Solar industry in India, there is a need to develop policy
solutions, business models, and financing instruments which can address these
barriers.

Third Party Ownership Model

• In Solar Leasing the rooftop owner leases a rooftop system. The rooftop owner pays a pre agreed rent
for such system while using the energy generated from the rooftop system. The companies also
guarantee system performance with a promise to compensate the customer in cases in which the
system does not perform according to specifications.(buy financial equi not energy)
• In Solar Power Purchase Agreements model the developer constructs the power plant and sells the
generated energy to the end consumer. The end consumer simply pays for the energy usage without
worrying about the technical and financial aspects of the plant as per the PPA
• The advantages of the Model are:
 Reduction of technology risk and complexity experienced by individual consumers by transferring
the responsibility of the monitoring of system performance to the third party
 Elimination of consumers’ maintenance cost
Research Methodology
• RESEARCHER TYPE: - Descriptive Research
• SAMPLING UNIVERSE: - Customers in Pune
• SAMPLING TECHNIQUE: - Non-probability convince sampling
• UNIT: - All Solar Product users
• SIZE: - 68 Customers
• RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS: - Research instruments, for the purpose of primary data collection
were structured questionnaires.
• REGION: - PUNE
Finding
• Self-owned business model which require the
consumer to invest themselves in the solar rooftop
system. The number of units exported to and
imported from the grid is recorded in the Meter.
• Net Metering is when electricity is consumed in
the house and only unused electricity is exported
into the grid.
• Gross Metering is when all the solar electricity
generated is exported into the grid.
Suggestions

• Solar crowdfunding is a new financing mechanism

in which investment funds in solar systems are
raised from individual investors.
• The contribution from individuals can be as small
as Rs.2500 and investors are paid back with
interest. The money that is pooled from the
crowdfunding platform is loaned to developers.
The company collects a 1% fee from the individual
investors and pays interest to investors at the rate
of about 4.5%
