Children’s enthusiasm and curiosity for science is promoted at every


opportunity

Prioritize practical

Pupil led practical ‘hands on’ science learning is carefully planned for and
maximized, giving a real life context where possible

Have fun

Science should be engaging and fun


Principle #4
Promote talk and deeper thinking

Weekly ‘Bright Ideas Time’ is used as an effective tool to promote


questioning and generation of ideas

Get outside

The outside area and locality are utilized to provide regular outdoor learning
experiences
Principle #6
Be scientific

Correct (age-appropriate) scientific vocabulary is confidently used


and modelled by staff

Children learn about modern day and historical famous scientists
Principle #7
Inspire

Pupils get to meet real scientists and engineers to see how STEM subjects are used in the work
place with the aim of inspiring the next generation and raising aspirations for future STEM
careers
