FUNDAMENTALISM
• Fundamentalism is tradition defended in a traditional way. It has more to do with the content of
the beliefs themselves.
• Fundamentalism sets itself in opposition to modernity, it also employs modern approaches
forcefully asserting on their beliefs.
• Christian fundamentalists in the United States, for example, were among the first to use
television as a medium for spreading their doctrines; Islamic fundamentalists fighting Russian
forces in Chechnya have developed websites to set forth their views; Hindutva militants in India
have used the Internet and email to promote a feeling of 'Hindu identity'.
