TODAY Students: Costache Alessia, Dinu Ioana- Adriana Academia Navală „Mircea cel Bătrân”, Constanța EVOLUTION OF MASS MEDIA
• The media and its influential effect on the
masses have increased exponentially in the past five decades. Initially, the news and media channels were limited to the telegraph. The technological inventions then found many channels to spread the news to the masses such as the radio, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, and now mobile applications as well. • Through the media the man is manipulated like a toy. • How do the media do it? Through visual images, people are offered all kinds of information, of useless things actually changing the real part of the story. ADVANTAGES OF THE MEDIA • We can learn more about the society around us. • We can search for information rapidly through the Internet. • We can learn more about the society around us. • We can express our opinions. • Students can make good use of the media to learn. THE NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF SOCIETY • The negatives in society are highlighted with the purpose of awakening people about them. For example, the negative effects of addiction are portrayed through advertisements. Newspapers, television and the Internet are used to convey social messages. But unfortunately sometimes, the message is misconstrued. The ‘awakening’ does not reach everyone or it reaches the masses in the wrong way. So there is a section positively influenced by the media while there are others who take the wrong message from it. Media influences them negatively. You can win the war only using the media? Here is one exemple for this question: ZELENSKY IS USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO WIN THE WAR
• One month ago, only political leaders knew the
president of Ukraine by his full name and former occupation. Today, Volodymyr Zelensky has millions around the globe deep in worry about him and his nation. Talk about the power of social media. Since the inception of the social media era, Russia’s attack on Ukraine has been the first major military face-off. While Ukraine has tactically used the media to her advantage, Putin seems to fail woefully at this simple task. HOW THE WAR IS NOWDAYS CONCLUSION • There is no definitive answer to whether mass media is "good" or "bad". Research has shown that it can have both positive and negative effects, and often these effects are dependent on how the media is being used and consumed.
