A. Cebu
• known as the “Queen City
of the South”
•Cebuano folk arts includes
basketry and handcrafting of
jewelry and musical
instruments.
• Baskets are made up of rattan,
bamboo, or sigid vine
•Mactan produce guitars and
ukuleles made up of langka or soft
jackfruit wood.
•Cebu artists use indigenous method
blend with modern materials as
shown in their fashionable
jewelries and furnitures.

• It is the 10 largest island in

the Philippines.
•Famous for its three main
attractions: tropical rainforest,
the tarsier and the chocolate
hills.
•The beaches surrounding
their islands offer snorkeling
and diving facilities.
•Basketry is one of the earliest
industries established in
Bohol particularly in the town
of Antiquera.

• It is the third smallest
province in the country.
•It is famous for its mystery and
mysticism especially for those
who believe in witchcraft and
sorcery with the island having
a reputation of black art.
•It is also known as “Isla del
Fuego” (Island of Fire) due to
glow during sunset as multitude
of fireflies gather the molave
trees prevalent in the Island.
• Siquijor crafts include wood
crafting, shell crafts, basket,
beaded items, handbags and
hats.

• It is the third largest city in the
Philippines.
• Banig weaving is the common
source of income, most especially
of women weavers in Basey, Samar.
•These mats measures 2x3 meters
and are thin as a clipboard.
• Thematerial use for weaving is
called “tikog” a special reed
grass which grows in swampy
areas along rice fields.

E. Leyte
•Itis divided into two provinces:
Northern Leyte and Southern
Leyte.
•The major cities in Leyte are
Tacloban and Ormoc.
•Leyte crafts includes soft brooms,
bags woven from seagrass and
sinamay hand bags.
•It is also known as “Isla del
Fuego” (Island of Fire) due to
glow during sunset as multitude
of fireflies gather the molave
trees prevalent in the Island.
• Siquijor crafts include wood
crafting, shell crafts, basket,
beaded items, handbags and
hats.
•It also known for its bamboo
furniture and crafts.
•The province also celebrated
annual Pintados-Kasadyaan
Festival, a cultural religious
celebration based on the body
painting tradition of the ancient
tattooed warriors that represents
courage and beauty.
