    The Soviet Union, officially the Union of Soviet Socialist
    Republics (USSR), was a Communist state that spanned
    much of Eurasia from 1922 to 1991.
    Context of Gorbachev’s leadership

     Important to remember that not every empire that faces crisis faces collapse.
    However, the accession to power of Gorbachev in 1985 unleashed a chain reaction
    that led to the extinction of the no.2 superpower in 7years.

     The role of Gorbachev in the break up of the Soviet Union has always been weighted
    up with long term, structural factors of the regime.
     During the Bezhnev era,  There were a number of
    there emerged a better instant problem for
    educated Soviet citizen Gorbachev as well,
    who did not necessarily including failing
    accept the official economic growth rates,
    doctrine. They earned for major ecological
