Introducing Google Chrome
 Google Chrome:
 Latest generation Web browser developed by Google Inc.
 Its popularity is mainly due to the simplicity of the interface and the speed
of displaying Web pages
 One of its most impressive features is that it has Google search built into
the Address bar

Security Sandboxing Sandboxing is a term used to describe how Chrome makes Web browsing
more secure. It treats each Web page opened in a new tab as a separate
process. Each process is said to be executed in a ‘Sandbox'. Due to this, if one
Web page gets stuck or freezes during processing, it can be closed separately
without affecting Web pages in any other tabs. Also, the sandbox prevents a
Web page from
installing any malicious software on the user’s computer. The sandbox
also prevents a Web site from stealing user’s personal data.

Extensions Extensions are used to add more features to the browser, such as

Opening a Page in a New Tab
 Google Chrome provides the tabbed browsing feature that enables a user
to visit multiple Web pages simultaneously.

 When a link on the Web page is clicked, the linked page is displayed in
the window over the page on which link was displayed.

 There may be situations where users might be required to view both


the
pages simultaneously.

Opening a Page in a New Window
 Users can view a Web page in a new tab as well as in a new window.

 When users have opened several tabs in the current window, they may
want to open an important Web page in a new window to focus only on
that page.

 Following are the two ways to open a Web page in a new tab:
 Open a new window and access a Web page
 Open a linked page in a new window

Sign In User can sign in to the Google account and personalize the browser settings.

Appearance Sets Chrome browser overall view and themes setup.
Search Sets default search engine which should be used by Chrome browser.
Users User can add or remove users who can use the Chrome browser.
Default Browser Google Chrome if selected as default browser makes it as system’s
default Web browser.
Privacy Sets options for handling JavaScripts, images, and cookies.
Passwords & Stores or deletes as options are selected, Web sites passwords and
forms forms settings.
Web content Settings like fonts and zooming is controlled.

Google Cloud Print Allows users to print the Web document on any printer which is

Reset Browser Setting User can use this option to reset all Google Chrome browser’s

Searching Books [1-2]
 Google Books is an online library that allows a user to search from a
collection of millions of books.

 It provides a limited preview of several books and also provides full text
of some of the books.

 Registered Google users can save their favourite books in their personal
library through the My Library feature on Google Books.

 It also gives direct links to buy these books on online bookstores like
Amazon
and Barnes and Noble.
