Graceland legacy….
In the late 70’s when fast food was virtually unheard of in
the provinces, Felipe Dy Eng Chong pioneered the fast
food industry with Graceland. It is now a far cry from the
original “Garage Operation” started in 1976 but just like
most local businesses (in Naga); it had a very humble
beginning. They serve “made to order” meals during 70’s.
during the early 80’s, they incorporated the famous ice
cream parlor concept in their stores together with trendy
foods like and
.

They also have a bakeshop called “The Baker’s Plaza”

that was a staple in each of their stores.
Initial Questions..
1. What is the significance of staffing in your Fast food?
“First of all, the importance of Staffing is to gather
individuals who are capable of doing respective works.

2. How you manage staffing?

“Contractual basis sila ( 1 month to 2 months ang end of
contract). One month before ng end of contract ng isang
papalit. Every Tuesday and Thursday, 2 – 4 pm ang schedule
ng mga mag-aaply.”
HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING
- A planned output of any organization that requires a
systematic deployment of human resources at various
levels.
Forecasting
Programming
Evaluation & Control

“Planning is our first step, bakit? Para

mahanap namin ang kailangan naming
empleyado para sa bakanting posisyon sa
mabilis na paraan, cause our proposed plan
will be our basis in recruiting.”
RECRUITMENT
- Attracting qualified persons to apply for vacant
positions in the company so that those who are best
suited to serve the company may be selected.

“We have an advertisement on television,

pero kalimitan ng nag-aaply sa amin ay
dahil sa kaibigan o referrals from our
current employees.”
SELECTION
- An act of choosing from those that are available
the individuals most likely to succeed on the job.

“1. Initial interview

• NBI clearance, mayor’s permit, SSS number, birth
certificate, 1 x 1 picture, resume
• Exam -General
2. Final Interview
3. Completion of Final Requirements”
Appearance, Can communicate well especially to the customers,
INDUCTION AND ORIENTATION
- Providing the necessary information about the
company and introducing the new employees to the
working environment and co-workers.

“Our orientation process starts with telling the history of

Graceland, yung mga benepisyong matatangap nila at
syempre kung magkano ang kanilang pwedeng
swelduhin. After that they will undergo on a 3-day
observation (No pay) for us to evaluate them if they can
do their respective jobs. Kapag pumasa sila roon,
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
- Training refers to the learning that is provided in order
to improve performance on the present jobs.

“For trainees, mayroon silang trainor na dati

ng empleyado to guide and to tell them the
best response in different situations for one
month at para naman sa mga nag-oOJT,
manager ang magtuturo at magtetrain sa
kanila.”

Category 4ng aming
empleyado monthly using Work-standards Method
o Checklist Method.

binibigay kaming token and certificates. Buwan-buwan may
pinaparangalan din kaming Best in Suggestive Selling, Best Cashier
at kung anu-ano pa. Sa katunayan magkakaroon kaming Mr. & Ms.
Valentines.
kanilang sweldo.”
EMPLOYMENT DECISIONS
- After evaluating the performance of employees, the
management will now be ready for employment
decisions. It can be:

1. Monetary Rewards
2. Promotion
3. Transfer
4. Demotion

“They have House Rules na kailangan nilang sundin at kapag

sumusunod:
1. Under-Suspension for 1 to 2 days with written explanation
2. 15 days suspension – e.g., failure sa food in serving
3. Undetermination o early finished contract
SEPARATION
- May be classified as voluntary or involuntary.

“Separation every finished contract, Job

abandonment (6 consecutive days na hindi
pumasok) and lastly Termination (kapag lumabag
Follow up questions….
1. What are those issues that you encountered in
staffing? And what are your alternative solutions for
them?
establishment namin.”

2. Is it hard to be a Human Resource Manager?
