Next summer, Maya will be vacationing in


France. She has been planning this holiday for a
long time. After searching many travel websites for
the best deals, she found a discounted flight out
of Boston. Maya plans to spend two days in Paris
sightseeing before traveling south to the Riviera.
In Paris, she’ll be visiting the Eiffel Tower, where
she hopes to climb to the top and enjoy a
breathtaking view of the city.

Then, at night, she is going to be


taking a boat cruise down the River
Seine. She cannot wait to see the
glittering lights of the Pont Neuf
(New Bridge) and the Pont des Arts
(Arts Bridge – Lovers’ Bridge)

A Visit to France

No visit to Paris is complete without a


tour of its famous museums. On the next
day, Maya will be viewing the impressionist
paintings at Orsay Museum and the Mona
Lisa at the Louvre Museum. Then she ’ll be
joining a former colleague at the Sorbonne
University for a late lunch and a last-minute
dash through the Quartier Latin known for

The following morning, she will be


traveling on the Paris – Marseille – Nice train
to the Cote d’ Azur. She will be staying at the
famous Le Meridien Nice, which has a
spectacular view of the sea and the beach.
She looks forward to spending the next
three days touring familiar places in Nice
with Meena, an old friend.

They are going to be strolling along


the Promenade des Anglais, taking in
the sea view, and relaxing on the stony
beach, for which Nice is famous. Then,
they are going to visit the Nice Etoile on
Avenue Jean Medecin, where Maya will
be shopping for souvenirs for her
family.

The French Riviera is best seen from the


balcony of a cruise ship. There are daily
excursions at affordable prices. The next
day, Maya and Meena are going to be
traveling from the Baie des Anges, around
the Cap de Nice, with a lunch stop over in
Monaco and a visit to the Place du Palais
and The Exotic Garden.

However, the high point of Maya’s


vacation is the Nice Jazz Festival,
organized every summer at the Place
Massena. She and Meena will be
spending the last day enjoying beautiful
music from all over the world. When
