DEFINITION
RV dysfunction results from excessive
increases in preload or afterload, or
injury that results in decreased
contractility.

RHF- increased RV afterload


(decompensated PAH, pulmonary
embolus, hypoxia, acidemia) or de-
creased RV contractility (RV ischemia,
myocarditis)

Small changes in RV loading conditions

NYHA III, Chest pain and exercise intolerance. Notable history
of a direct flight from NYC to NBO 1 day before onset of
symptoms.
Has had a syncopal episode today.
