Among the most common economic symbols are the currencies or
money we are using, the value of which varies depending on the
economic status of the country. We also hear of the Stock
Exchange, Gold and Petroleum, Banking, Life Insurance and others

resources are distributed, and goods and services are
traded in societies.
• These practices control the different factors of
production such as labor, capital, entrepreneurs, physical
and information resources.

- This represent economic standpoint. It can be
seen in various media such as Stock Exchange,
Money, Currency, Gold and petroleum, Life Insurance,
Banking, etc.
Whether real or nominal moneys are being discussed must
be indicated either through the use of a prime (’ ) to
indicate real figures or by clarifying in the text of the
publication whether real or nominal amounts are being
used.

• Human cultures use economic symbols to express


specific ideologies and social structures and to represent
aspects of their specific culture. Thus, economic symbols
carry meanings that depend upon one's cultural
background; in other words, the meaning of a symbol is
not inherent in the symbol itself but is culturally learned.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SYMBOLS

- As rational thinkers, we have been making and giving


meaning to symbols for a long time. Symbols have been part
of our lives and growth as humankind.

-The usage of symbols and symbolism have given


mankind an avenue to communicate with different groups of
people, influence others of different ideologies, and preserve
values that were transferred from generations to generations.
