INTRODUCTION:

Telecommunication media has added a new dimension in modern


life. Today nothing is imaginable without this new dimension.
Telephone has become insegragative living tools for modern life.
Modern telecommunication technology has shaped different forms
of phones, telegraph, fax, E-mail, Internet, Pagers, Cellular phone
and so on.
Company Background

Grameenphone started its journey on March 26, 1997, the


Independence Day of Bangladesh. It’s the first company to
introduce GSM technology in the country. It has covered
almost 99% of people of this country under its strong network
and cheap call rate. Grameenphone has been a leading
company to inaugurate new products and services to the local
telecom market.

Mission: We are the only reliable means of communication that


brings the people of Bangladesh closer to their beloved ones and
important things of their life through unparalleled network and
innovations.

Vission: We are here to help our customer to experience the power


of communication. We dream of a world where no word is left un-
uttered. A world where every voice reaches to the expected listeners .

How the Business was formed?

The company was formed by Iqbal Quadir, who is currently the founder
and director of the Legatum Center for Development and
Entrepreneurship at MIT. The company was formed for providing
universl mobile phone access in all over Bangladesh. Iqbal Quadir was
inspired by the Grameen Bank microcredit model and envisioned a
business model where a cell phone can serve as a source of income.
Partnership Agreement

Grameenphone Ltd. has renewed its partnership withSightsavers International to provide free eye-care
support to the economically disadvantaged people of the rural Bangladesh. A Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) was signed in this regard between Grameenphone and Sightsavers International
on 27th August, 2008.

Advantages:
 GrameenPhone  has  been  successful  to  build  a  superior  image  in  comparison  to  the other
operators. In other words, GP has a clear advantage over the competitors.

  GrameenPhone has some additional features in comparison to its competitors. It is playing a vital rol
e to increase the subscribers of GrameenPhone. 
Disadvantages

 Most of the subscribers are not happy with the billing rate of GP.They think it is to
o high in the context of Bangladesh. 

 The quality of air time and network availability is very poor.

 Most of the time the advertisement of Grameenphone do no clear the appropriate


messages.
