Why?
The verb is the King in English !

The shortest sentence contains a verb.


You can make a one-word sentence with
a verb.
For example:
Stop

You cannot make a one-word sentence


with any other type of word.

 Verbs are sometimes described as
“action words”
This is partly true.
Why?
 Many verbs give the idea of action of “doing”
something.
For example:
run, fight, do, and work
They convey the idea of action.

BUT !
Some verbs do not give the idea of
action;
they give the idea of existence,
of state, of “being”.

For example:
be, exist, seem,and belong.
They all convey the idea of state.

There is something very special about
verbs in English.
Most other words ( adjectives, adverbs,
prepositions,etc) do not change in form.

But almost all verbs change in form.


For example, the verb TO WORK has
five forms.

Limiting Adjectives:
These types of adjectives specify or limit
the noun.

For example:-
 The two teams have
met every season since 1932.

Predicate Adjective:
This is a special type of adjective that
follows a linking verb and modifies
(directly refers to) the subject of the
sentence.

For example:-
 People are interested in this game.
 Watching the championship was fun.

Verbal Adjectives:
Two types of verbal can acts as adjectives.
Participles are always adjectives and may
end in EN, ED or ING. Infinitives (TO+VERB)
may act as adjectives, adverbs or nouns.

For example:-
 Students need to learn the parts of
speech.
 The students began to understand the
social structure

These adjectives are used to point out or
indicate a particular noun or pronoun
using the adjectives
- This, That, These and Those.

Adverb of Time:
An adverb of time tells us when
something is done or happens. We use it
at the beginning or at the end of a
sentence. Adverbs of time
include afterwards, already, always,
immediately, last month, now, soon,
then, and yesterday.
For example:-
 He collapsed and died yesterday.

Adverb of Place:
An adverb of place tells us where
something is done or happens. We use it
after the verb, object or at the end of a
sentence. Adverbs of place include words
such as above, below, here, outside, over
there, there, under, upstairs.

For example:-
 We can stop here for lunch.

Adverb of Manner:
An adverb of manner tells us how
something is done or happens. Most
adverbs of manner end in –ly such
as badly, happily, sadly, slowly, quickly,
and others that include well, hard, fast,
etc.
