ACADEMIC AWARD
DEPED NO. 36 S. 2016
EXCERPTS:
• These awards have been designed to formally recognize the
outstanding performance and achievement of learners in academics,
leadership, and social responsibility, among other aspects of student
progress and development. These awards are given to encourage
learners to strive for excellence and to become proactive members of
the school and community.
• All learners, including transferees, who have met the standards,
criteria, and guidelines set by this policy shall be recognized.
• There can be two or more recipients of any award. However, should
there be no qualified learner, the awards shall not be given.
• 3. Academic Excellence Award
The Award for Academic Excellence within the quarter
is given to learners from
grades 1 to 12 who have attained an average of at least
90 and passed all learning areas.
The Average Grade per Quarter is reported as a whole
number following DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015.
Senior High School Academic Awardees
• Grade of Grade 11 subjects are included
• PE and Health per quarter is divided by .25
• All grades should be rounded / in whole number
• Special Awards are given

DEPED NO. 18 S. 2021
• a. Academic Excellence Award is a grade-levei award that is
given to learners from grades 6, 10 and 12 who have attained
a general average of at 1east 90 and a passing final grade in
all learning areas (Do No. 36, s. 2016). This award, which
covers the following categories: with Highest Honors /with
HighHonors /and with Honors is the only award that shall be
given this Sy 2O21-2O22.
• The Department suspends a majority ofthe awards
and recognitlon provided in DepEd Order 36, s. 2016.
These awards require face-to-face interaction and
inperson observation of learner's classroom
demeanor and performance; however, the current
learning set-up limits the basis for authentically
identifying recipients of these awards.
