Vizconde Massacre

JUNE 30, 1991


VIZCONDE MASSACRE CASE: This case is
about the gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old
woman, the murder of her 7-year-old sister and
their mother on June 30, 1991 at their home in
Paranaque City, Metro Manila. This is one of the
most controversial and widely publicized massacre
cases because of the involvement of the son of a
former Philippine Senator, Freddie Webb; and six
others from a wealthy family background similar
to that of the accused.

New Vizconde Massacre Witness Found

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima yesterday said the government task force re-
investigating the 1991 Vizconde massacre case has found another witness and
was convincing him to come out in public and tell what he knows.
“We have someone we’re convincing to execute a statement and to undergo a
lie detector test. That’s what we’re trying to do now,” De Lima said...

MANILA -- The former police officer who was convicted in the Vizconde
massacre in 1991 finally walked free Tuesday after spending 15 years in
prison. Gerardo Biong was released from the National Bilibid Prison in
Muntinlupa City after Justice Secretary Leila de Lima signed the
documents for his release.
He was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for allegedly being an
accessory to the Vizconde massacre. He was found guilty of tampering
evidences in the crime and was sentenced in 2000....
