Evaluation Tools

used in Authentic
Assessment
Authentic Assessment
 The foundation of authentic
assessment revolves around
evaluating a student's ability
to apply what they have
learned in mathematics to a
"real world" context.
Individual or Group
Checklist in Problem-
Solving in Mathematics
Designing Authentic Assessment has 3 steps:

1. List the skills and knowledge you wish to have students learn as a
result of completing a task.
2. Design a Performance task that requires the students to
demonstrate these skills and knowledge.
3. Develop explicit performance criteria which measure the extent to
which students have mastered the skills and knowledge.
Problem Solving Checklist is a checklist that can be used
by a student and/or class that outlines the steps necessary
to complete simple or complex math problems.
 It might also include an approach or a step-by-step
algorithm for solving the math problem.
 These checklists can help students master simple and
complex algorithms, organize mathematical steps and
complete math problems independently.
Purpose of Checklists
• To provide tools for systematically recording observations;
• To provide students with tools that they can use for self-
evaluation;
• To provide examples of criteria for students at the beginning of a
project of learning activity;
• To document the development of the skills, strategies, attitudes,
and behaviors that are necessary for effective learning; and
• To identify students' learning needs by summarizing learning to
date.

INTERVIEW SHEET
Interview Sheet
 is another observation tool which is
also called the conference recording
form. Interview sheets consist of a
list of questions the teacher intends
to ask and space for recording the
student's answers.
One of the best ways to structure an interview is with an
interview rating sheet

 An interview rating sheet allows recruiters and interviewers to

score the candidates interview in a uniform, consistent way. An
interview scorecard, or rating sheet is a great way to minimize bias
and score candidates objectively.
 Once data is collected from the various candidates, it's easy to
compare and contrast them to find the best pick for your
organization.
How to create an interview rating sheet
Set measurements and requirements as a team.
• Make sure the criteria that you will be assessing candidates on is agreed
upon by a diverse group of people.
• Make sure everyone on the team has had a chance to input here.
Make sure the scoring system is clear.
• Make sure you have a clear scoring system and be explicit in it.
Allow room for comments.
• Encourage and focus on a clear rating system, but still leave room for
comments.
Purpose of an Interview sheet

• Unstructured interviews are the breeding ground

for bias in the interview process.
• Structured interviews help curb bias and allows
companies to evaluate candidates on factors
that contribute to the bottom line. It's important
to note the legal benefits that structured
interviews can also have.
