MEANS
Prepared by:
Ms. Chenny Q. Betaizar
LET’S HAVE A PRETEST!
1. What do you call by the numbers between the arithmetic extremes?
2. It is sometimes called the AVERAGE of two numbers.
3. What formula can you use to find the common difference of the arithmetic
sequence?
4. Find the second, third, and fourth term between 11 and 39.
5. Write the first five terms of arithmetic sequence when a1= 4 and d=5.
ANSWERS
1. Arithmetic Means
2. Arithmetic Means
3. an=a1 + (n-1) d
4. 11, 18, 25, 32, 39
5. 4, 9, 14, 19, 24
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Defines Arithmetic Means
Determines arithmetic means in arithmetic sequence
Develops accuracy in making representation
ARITHMETIC MEANS ARE…
•The numbers between arithmetic extremes, found in an arithmetic sequence wherein each term
is obtained by adding a fixed value called the common difference.
Example: 4, 7, 10, 13, 16
Example: 9, 15, 21
•Sometimes called the AVERAGE of two numbers.
•It is also possible to insert any numbers of terms between any two given terms.
Example: Insert 3 arithmetic means between 1 and 17.
Use the arithmetic sequence formula to find the common difference.
an= a1 + (n-1) d
SOLVE WHAT IS ASKED:
Write the first five terms of arithmetic sequence when a1= 8 and d= 3
DIRECTION: FIND THE MISSING TERM OR TERMS IN EACH ARITHMETIC
