TYPES OF

BOLTS
Anchor Bolts:
Types and Uses
L-Shaped Anchor Bolts
• The L-Bolt anchor bolts are used
to attach sill plates to concrete
or masonry foundations,
provide anchorage for light
weight post bases and for
general anchorage to concrete.
Headed Anchor Bolts
• Headed anchor bolts
are construction fasteners
that feature a head on the
non-threaded end. This end is
installed into concrete or
masonry so that a steel column,
beam, bolt, rail, or other
structural element may be
secured in place.
Swedge Bolts
• Swedge Bolts or Swedge Rods
are an alternative form of anchor
bolt most commonly used in the
DOT and bridge industries. They
are also commonly used when the
footing space is limited for an
embedment. A swedge bolt is
threaded on one side with
indentations on the other to
enhance the “grip” of the part in
concrete.
