COMPANY’S SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

TATA STEEL LIMITED.

INTRODUCTION

• In India, we are partnering with our community and all other stakeholders in our journey
towards a sustainable tomorrow.
• We endeavour to preserve and promote tribal culture and heritage through various initiatives
including tribal leadership programme, Samvaad tribal conclave, tribal language centres,
curated tribal literature programmes, imparting training on tribal musical instruments and
documenting stories of tribal legacy. In healthcare, we partner with governments and
independent organisations worldwide to work towards improving the overall health and
hygiene of the community in and around areas where we operate.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

• Tata firmly believe in improving the quality of lives, of the communities we serve, through long term value
creation for all our stakeholders. Tata BlueScope Steel is committed to work within its communities by
spreading quality Education, Healthcare Services, generating sustainable Livelihood opportunities and
contributing towards Rural & Urban Infrastructure development in and around all operational locations. From
supply of clean drinking water for villages around Jamshedpur, free medical camps, immunisation drives, blood
donation camps, tree plantation drives to road safety and home safety trainings for school children; Tata
BlueScope Steel’s initiatives are aimed at making lives better for people, communities and the society in general.
Every year on World Environment Day, Tata BlueScope Steel conducts plantation drives across its locations.
This year, nearly 250 plants were planted at Jamshedpur, Bhiwadi and Sriperumbudur. Till date, nearly 2000
plants have been planted by us at various locations.
WELFARE SCHEMES AND INITIATIVES

• Tata Steel has been pioneering worker welfare schemes and community initiatives before the
legislation mandated them
• Its belief in employee welfare is corroborated in the several ‘firsts’ in employee welfare measures that
Tata Steel introduced over time. In India, these include the 8-hour Work Day at our Jamshedpur plant in
1912, the Leave with Pay scheme in 1936 and the Workers’ Provident Fund Scheme in 1920 – all of
which were subsequently adopted by the International Labour Organisation and enacted by law in India.
• Besides Paternity Leave, Work from Home and Extended Maternity Leave, their other initiatives include
Mosaic, a Diversity & Inclusion platform that emphasises meritocracy, gender diversity, a friendly
infrastructure for differently-abled employees and increased participation of women in senior leadership.
BUILDING RELATIONSHIP WITH CUSTOMERS

• In line with the motto of ‘Reshaping our business for tomorrow’, Tata Steel is serving the
growing needs of our B2B (Business Accounts), B2C (Individual Consumers) and B2ECA
(Emerging Corporate Accounts) - customer segments by offering differentiated products and
services. Our end-to-end operation across the value chain, from mining to finished steel goods,
enables us to deliver superior quality products. Over the years, we have built strong relationships
with the channel partners that has allowed us to serve existing B2C and B2ECA customer
segments through our nationwide professional distribution network. We are now leveraging this
extensive network established for steel products to extend our customer-centric services and new
solutions such as Tata Pravesh Doors & Windows to markets in urban and rural India.
